Mrs. Hendrix

Hello, my name is Deedee Hendrix.  I have been married to my husband, Jeremy, for 26 years, and we have two beautiful children and a son-in-love.  My daughter, Kylie, is 23. She has her RN degree and is a pediatric nurse.  Kylie is married to my son-in-love, Josh, and they have a beautiful miniature poodle named Oakley. My son, Carter, is 15 and loves competing for MCS Tech Park in the robotics program, and plays the trumpet in his school band and the church orchestra.

I have served Morgan County Schools for 27 years, working with kindergarten through twelfth-grade students.  I have served as a special education paraprofessional, library media aide, general education teacher, reading coach, and RTI specialist, and I have coached both middle and high school sports.

I am a member of Somerville Baptist Church and am actively involved in my community.  I love spending time serving through my local church, watching athletes compete, and giving back to my community.  My family also enjoys many recreational outdoor activities.  We love spending time together while riding ATVs, boats, and jet skis.  My favorite activities are traveling and shopping!

My lifelong mission has always been to work with children.  As I continue this exciting educational journey at Union Hill, my goal is to uphold high standards of academic excellence and demonstrate an unwavering commitment to all students and teachers.  I believe that family and community partnerships are essential to students’ academic and personal success. I look forward to continuing to serve the Union Hill students, staff, families, and community.  Please let me know if I can help in any way.

Dr. Barron

My name is Jonathon Barron, and I am excited to be a part of the Union Hill family, where I serve as assistant principal. I am originally from Evansville, Indiana, and moved to Alabama to attend Samford University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education.

I went on to earn a Master of Science in Human Environmental Sciences from The University of Alabama. During this time, I began my career at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as a Child Life Specialist. As my wife, Noelle, and I started our family, I transitioned into the classroom, teaching middle school science.

I later earned an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Educational Leadership from The University of Mississippi. In 2011, we moved to Decatur, where I continued teaching middle school before moving into school administration. During this time, I also completed my Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) at Samford University.

I have worked in public education since 2006. Noelle is also a kindergarten teacher, and we are the proud parents of two sons and a daughter. I am truly excited to be a part of the Morgan County Schools family and look forward to working with students, staff, and the community.
